Benefits of Reflexology Reflexology cleanses the body of toxins and impurities which may block certain organs or systems in the body, resulting in dis-ease and illness. It stimulates the circulation of both blood and lymph which enhances the elimination of toxins.
Reflexology is especially good for musculoskeletal problems, such as backaches, digestive disorders, mentstrual problems, and problems due to poor lymph drainage.
Reflexology can help alleviate symptoms from heart and lung diseases and is also useful in treating strokes, and chronic conditions such as arthritis and multiple sclerosis.
Chronic conditions will need top-up sessions to maintain maximum results.
Psychological effects
Relaxation Reflexology helps to reduce stress and induces deep relaxation. We all experience different kinds and levels of stress in our daily lives. Generally we all cope well with it, but it becomes a problem when we are unable to rationalise it or employ coping mechanisms to combat stress.
Revitalising energy This could be said to be both psychological and physical. Reflexology can release blockages which will allow energy to flow freely through the body, revitalising in every way. Some will experience invigorating energy boosts, and others will feel the calming soothing flow of serene energy.
Mental Alertness With increased mental alertness, we are more receptive and creative, stimulating an increase in personal productivity, our ability to achieve our best in all aspects of our lives.

Therapist: Fiona Webb
The Bowen Technique activates your body's ability to rebalance, repair and re-align itself, by releasing tension in muscles, reducing pain and inflammation, improving circulation and energy levels. It works on the principle that your body knows best how to heal itself.
Gentle moves made at very specific points on the body, over muscles, tendons and ligaments, send signals through the body to the brain. The effect of the moves are carried throughout the whole body, hence the Bowen Technique's strength as a holistic complementary therapy.
The first session involves a consultation and assessment, then a treatment, the length of which will be determined by your condition and how your body responds to the Bowen moves. The second session is 7 days later. Often only 2-4 sessions are required to gain significant health improvement.
Costs are £40 for the first session and £30 thereafter, with 25% discounts for those aged 65 and over on Job Seekers Allowance or Disability benefit.
Spinal Reflexology & Chi Stimulation
Therapist: Debbie McDougall
Spinal Reflexology is a very relaxing treatment involving gentle mobilisation of the spine and muscle release techniques. It is very effective at treating most forms of back and neck pain. Sciatica or leg pain caused by the spine and pelvis is also very treatable. In fact it is one of the specialities of this therapy with most people feeling a great improvement after only a few sessions.
The movements are gentle and subtle and no joint is ever taken to its full range of motion, as this is not considered to be necessary for the treatment to be effective.
It is preferable to treat directly on the skin, and this is done without the use of oils or creams. The Client will be asked to remove their upper clothing. However, the treatment can also be performed through clothing, if preferred, as long as it is loose enough to move the clients' legs without restriction. Jogging trousers and a t-shirt are ideal.
Conditions that may benefit from Spinal Reflexology
The conditions that may improve as a result of Spinal Reflexology involve every part of the body. The theory closely mirrors the claims made by Chiropractors and Osteopaths, but with Spinal Reflexology the idea is not to treat specific illnesses but to improve the functioning and healing response throughout the body. Conditions include:
| Allergies | Arthritis | Asthma | | Back & Neck pains | Bladder weakness | constipation | | Dizziness | Eye strain | Facial Neuralgia | | Fainting | Hay Fever | Indigestion | | Irritable Bowel Syndrome | Lack of coordination | Menstrual problems | | Migraines & headaches | Sinus problems | Tinnitus | Why choose Spinal Reflexology?
The nerve supply to your body, the spinal cord, runs through the length of your spine, protected by the bones of your vertebrae.
Any abnormality with a vertebra or the surrounding tissues can compromise the messages traveling to and from the brain through the nervous system. Correct information received by the brain is crucial to the health of every part of the body.
The picture below shows an area of mis-alignment (subluxation) of one of the vertebrae which is causing damage to the spinal nerve (pictured in red) in that area. This means that the parts of the body supplied by that nerve will be affected in some way. This body process has been the basis for the work of Osteopaths and Chiropractors for many years.
Spinal reflexology works on the same principles but expands them to apply a treatment to the whole body through the spine whether there is a problem or not. Using this prophylactic approach to treatment means that Spinal Reflexology can help you to gain and maintain a healthy body.
When treating an identified problem, it is important to remember that the cause must be addressed as well as treating the symptoms. As such, consultation is vital at each treatment session to discuss overall life style and identify any factors that may be contributing to any current problems or conditions. Chi Stimulation
For clients with no known contraindications, a short session on the Chi Machine will be offered.
The Original Chi Machine creates a very specific oscillation, set speed and repetitive, non-jarring motion. - Lymphatic massage, thereby removing toxicity which causes needless pain and disease.
- Spinal alignment, poor posture correction, relief from back pain.
- Increased blood circulation, blood cell production and bone marrow activity.
- Oxygen access to the lungs, thereby inducing energy, activity, ability and mental focus.
- Reduction of nerve pain and muscle fatigue, thereby relieving pain debilitation.
- Fine tuning of the autonomic nervous system, relieving insomnia, digestive problems and constipation.
When using a Chi Machine you will begin with only 2-4 minutes per session. The client lies down on the floor and the timer is set for the selected time and the Chi Machine will do the rest.
Consistent, daily physical movement (exercise) of the body generates oxygenation of the cells and detoxification (via the Lymphatic System)
