Spinal Reflexology

Spinal Reflexology is a very relaxing treatment involving gentle mobilisation of the spine and muscle release techniques. It is very effective at treating most forms of back and neck pain. Sciatica or leg pain caused by the spine and pelvis is also very treatable. In fact it is one of the specialities of this therapy with most people feeling a great improvement after only a few sessions.

The movements are gentle and subtle and no joint is ever taken to its full range of motion, as this is not considered to be necessary for the treatment to be effective.

Massage & Spa

It is preferable to treat directly on the skin, and this is done without the use of oils or creams. The Client will be asked to remove their upper clothing. However, the treatment can also be performed through clothing, if preferred, as long as it is loose enough to move the clients' legs without restriction. Jogging trousers and a t-shirt are ideal.

Conditions that may benefit from Spinal Reflexology

The conditions that may improve as a result of Spinal Reflexology involve every part of the body. The theory closely mirrors the claims made by Chiropractors and Osteopaths, but with Spinal Reflexology the idea is not to treat specific illnesses but to improve the functioning and healing response throughout the body. Conditions include:

Aches and pains in general
Allergies
Arthritis
Asthma
Bladder weakness
Constipation
Dizziness
Eyestrain
Facial neuralgia
Fainting
Hay fever
Heart conditions
Hiccups
Indigestion
Irritable bowel syndrome
Lack of coordination
Liver disorders
Menstrual problems
Migraine and other headaches
Pins and needles
Sinus problems
Tinnitus

Why choose Spinal Reflexology?

The nerve supply to your body, the spinal cord, runs through the length of your spine, protected by the bones of your vertebrae.

Any abnormality with a vertebra or the surrounding tissues can compromise the messages traveling to and from the brain through the nervous system. Correct information received by the brain is crucial to the health of every part of the body.

The picture below shows an area of mis-alignment (subluxation) of one of the vertebrae which is causing damage to the spinal nerve (pictured in red) in that area. This means that the parts of the body supplied by that nerve will be affected in some way. This body process has been the basis for the work of Osteopaths and Chiropractors for many years.

Spinal reflexology works on the same principles but expands them to apply a treatment to the whole body through the spine whether there is a problem or not.
Using this prophylactic approach to treatment means that Spinal Reflexology can help you to gain and maintain a healthy body.

When treating an identified problem, it is important to remember that the cause must be addressed as well as treating the symptoms. As such, consultation is vital at each treatment session to discuss overall life style and identify any factors that may be contributing to any current problems or conditions.
